Food Philosophy

Food is a powerful force that can either harm or heal. Choose every bite carefully. Food should be a delicious and nutritious experience.

The WholeFooder food philosophy is simple. There is so much power behind what goes into your mouth. Every spoonful can make a difference when it comes to your health. But with the constant craze of trendy diets, knowing which way to turn can be difficult. Food can be simple while helping us achieve overall health just by asking “will this help me or harm me”?

In the simplest terms, food should be enjoyed in its whole, unprocessed form. This means eating foods that are unrefined and as close to its purest form possible. At The WholeFooder, we believe that every bite of food should deliver both nutrition and a burst of deliciousness for the taste buds. Delicious + nutritious. If the food doesn’t make it past the taste buds, then it won’t have a chance to do much benefit. Realistically, flavor is just as important as any potential health benefits a food has to offer. Since the experience of eating is a major part of life, it should be enjoyable regardless of the type of diet.

My philosophy is organic as much as possible. This helps minimize exposure to chemicals and toxins. Colorful, fresh organic produce is perfect for the end of any fork. The more plants on your plate, the better. And with so many varieties available, the possibilities are endless. High quality, grass-fed pasture raised meat and poultry as well as wild caught fish are also key parts of a WholeFooder’s diet. Fats (the good ones) are welcome at my table and are strategically used during meal time to ensure our brains and bodies are being well nourished.

Understanding what your food eats and how animals are treated from birth to beyond their life matters. Knowing how plant foods are grown is also important. Whether we like it or not, we eat what our food eats so it certainly does matter if they have been doused with chemicals or fed low-quality fillers.  The entire process is impactful to our health as human beings (as well as Planet Earth’s!), so knowing how your food came about, whether raised, grown or created in a lab by a chemist, is important. Words we live by at The WholeFooder is if it came from a plant; eat it. If it was made in a plant, don’t.
